“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.”
- Neil Gaiman

Two holiday gifts... The first, a small holiday gift for a grandmother who doesn't understand this curious system of tubes (a.k.a. the Internet) and thus, it's safe to hide it here as she'll never look. ;] A pet portrait of a cat named Furby, affectionately called a kitty-rat, who's been both spayed and neutered. If only I had a naff oval gold frame to put it in-- oh, wait! I do! The second, for someone who's now isolated from the internet in a cold and lonely land, and will not have the chance to see it online before the holidays.

Back in the 90's, Usenet was awesome.
The old furry server still runs today, though some of the groups have not seen a single post for several years.
Open your mailbrowser, create a "news" account, enter the following as your server: news.critter.net look for "subscribe" option, wait for it to load, shit bricks...

Every have a song strike you in such a way that you keep listening to it on and off, just trying to figure out why the heck it's so stuck in your head, and at the same time it just doesn't get old?
What the hell, Soul Coughing? Why is 'Circles' stuck in my head? And why is it so damned catchy?

Being the first year in our new home albear and I just HAD to put up some sort of Christmas Lights. Lest we be accused of sending the neighborhood to Hell in a handbasket. (Queers?! In our cul-de-sac?! Disgraceful!!) So to keep up with the Jones's (or rather the Jenkins' who live three doors down and want to take advantage when I'm gone) we got some LEDs from Target.
We got 4 strings to do the peak over the garage and the rest of the house to the right. But wouldn't you know it - one of the strings burnt out halfway thanks to .. whatever. So we could only do the peak. Still, it looks somewhat decent, and I got the (fading) scars from falling off the ladder to prove it. Actually, I only fell a couple feet, but Al was right there. It took some doing to convince him to let me up on the ladder after that incident. There's to love.
Regardless, here's the picture of the first-year house.

In Charles Dickens' novel David Copperfield, a character named Wilkins Micawber, who has perpetual troubles with debt, expresses his appreciation of his predicament in what is one of the best known quotes from the novel:
"Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen pounds nineteen and six, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery."
Mr. Micawber was always short on money. Given my busy schedule lately as work brings us to the end of the fiscal year, I am running short on sleep ... which is every bit as pernicious as Mr. Micawber's bad habit, as I am trying to borrow time instead of money.
So allow me to opine this:
Alarm set for 7:15am, rolling over in bed and seeing that it reads 6:59, result happiness. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

A sign of the times? I have a new mobile phone, so its built-in dictionary is pretty much virgin of all the aspects of my personality that will gradually impregnate it as I send more and more messages and it learns of my ways. So I was quite amused, when I was sending a text message that included the abbreviation "WRT" (with respect to), that the phone helpfully corrected this to ... WTF.
WTF?! :)

I never met darkwolfie in person, but I've heard his name before from a more than a few of my east coast friends. From what I understood, he was the type of fur that you definitely wanted to drink with, talk to, and have as a friend.
Wolfie contracted the N1H1 virus not too long ago, ended up in the hospital, and died from complications.

*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
Hmmmmmm, someone's mobile phone, somewhere in the office, is ringing. It's kinda muffled ... probably on the other side of the floor somewhere.
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a*
Yup, it went to voice mail. Probably got abandoned on someone's desk when they went to the bathroom or something.
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
Man, someone's trying to reach that person rather urgently. They really should answer their phone. Oh well ... it went to voice mail again. Back to work!
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
Aw, come on, answer your stinking phone!
*ding ding ding, ding ding-a-ding-a-ding!*
*ding ding ... * Oh crud, that's me! Hello! Hello, yes, sorry about that ...
Ah, the joys of having just acquired a new, unfamiliar mobile phone, and then keeping it in my pocket so from under my desk it sounds as though it's coming from far away ... :)

Brauf
I finally graduated(pending) with a Associates Degree. I feel kinda retarded in that Ive been going to school for almost 8 years and only come out with a AS. But better than nothing I guess. I took the AT-SAT test(aptitude test), scored a 83. Thats kinda sad because I was two points from being considered "highly qualified". ah well. I just took the Capstone Test(CTI exit exam) and scored a 98% on it.
From here on its pretty much a waiting game between me and the FAA, The aviation department head gave us a little speech before we began the Capstone test, and he said that academy can take anywhere from 8-18months... With my AT-SAT test scores im thinking its gonna be at least a year till I get my academy date.
In the mean time I guess ill just be workin at the fam restaurant. Or if I get sick of that I can look for other jobs.
